Necklace Styles Find the styles that are the most flattering for your body type, hair style and colour, complexion, height and weight. Mix and match - but be careful not to chose a piece that is a current “fad” - as that will pass, and said “must have piece” will languish in your jewellery box. Pick classic designs that flatter you - but remember to have fun too. Go on - kick up your heels. Define your own sense of “bold and daring”.
When I design a piece of jewellery I always take out my “bead board” and decide on the beads, stones, silver beads, crystal or pearls I want to use. A particular colour or shape will speak to me and I’ll pick one bead or more (sometimes 2 or 3) to be the focal point of the necklace. I place the focal bead or beads at the base of the board and then start to play. Sometimes I start identical necklaces on two different bead boards and see where each one ends up. I don’t string the piece until I’m fairly certain that I’ll be pleased with the outcome. A piece can take as little as half an hour to design or as long as three to four hours. There is simply no way to measure “inspiration”. Sometimes it just flows with such ease that I’m giggling and other days I’d rather be at the dentist! Each piece that I create - whether it be a necklace, a set, a bracelet, a nauble or earrings is unique. I never duplicate a piece of jewellery. If you see one of my designs and want a piece that is similar - that can be done - but there will always be a slight difference in the final design. My jewellery clients know that they have a one-of-a-kind piece for their collection. It’s also great fun to meet with a client to discuss what he or she wants in a piece of jewellery. Sometime we’ll work on ideas together and I’ll make up a couple of pieces based on our chats. I then finish and size the length of the one the client likes the best. What a cool way to buy jewellery. Call me if this seems like fun to you. Husbands, brothers and boy friends take notice at gift-giving time. Thank You For Your Interest In Designs By Pin |
