I could poke around at my various jewellery and silver suppliers for a week and never be bored! What to pick? What speaks to me? What would I like to wear? What might others like to wear? What looks interesting? What has an element of the “classic” but is fresh and fun? Do I care what all the fashion magazines are showing? Do I have the confidence to follow my creative instincts? I do believe that my designs will continue to find their way into the jewellery collections of wonderful women - everywhere!

With these questions in mind I set out to peruse my favourite haunts. I was not disappointed. I’ve added some great things to my ever-expanding bead cache. Among other things, I’m going to play around with bold sterling silver pendants, sterling silver plated stone squares, unusual chunks of sterling silver-plated coral (not the endangered kind) and funny little, sterling silver jointed court jesters - perfect for the kid in all of us!

I couldn’t resist some beautiful African turquoise - with the deep rich green, blue/brown hues that differentiate it from the traditional blue turquoise that we appreciate for its cheerful colour. Then some lovely, faceted green and coral unakite, stunning dense blue Lapis Lazuli, gorgeous dyed red Jade and sparkling black Onyx found their way into my bead basket.

Was that enough? “Oh no, I’ll just add some dazzling deep purple aventurine, polished and faceted stones, in 3 sizes! Okay, but wait just a minute - I just saw some green Jasper and polished, natural cream stones that made me smile. I’ve dubbed them “happy beads”. Add this to my existing stash of beads and silver and I’ll be making some unique, artistic new designs!
